Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade

An estimated 200,000 revellers lined the streets of Tsim Sha Tsui on Sunday night (18 February) to soak up the festive atmosphere at the Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade.

Cathay Pacific has been title sponsor of this internationally acclaimed event for many years, keeping its tradition of leading the parade with a specially designed float and a big contingent of uniformed staff to symbolise the Group's continued growth. An exciting line-up of 40 groups, including 13 floats and 15 overseas and 12 local performing troupes, thrilled the local people and overseas visitors who lined the parade route.

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Philip Chen was among the officiating guests at the event, along with Henry Tang, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government, Au King-chi, Commissioner for Tourism, and the Hong Kong Tourism Board's Chairman Board Selina Chow and Executive Director Clara Chong.

Sponsored Activities

Cathay Pacific has a long tradition of sponsoring major cultural and sporting events to attract tourists to the city and make Hong Kong the events capital of Asia.

We sponsor the International Races Week, one of the premiere events in the world's racing calendar and the thrilling annual Rugby Sevens tournament. The airline also backs major tournaments in cricket, tennis, squash and others.

We add colour to the city's cultural life, in recent years helping stage hit Broadway and West End musicals including Miss Saigon, MAMMA MIA! and Saturday Night Fever. And help broaden young Hong Kong people's horizons by arranging coaching from sports champions playing at events or a master class from actors appearing in shows.
