Infants, Children & Minors
Infants
- All our aircraft are equipped with special baby bassinets and packs as well as a wide range of baby food
- Each aircraft has at least two toilets with special fold-down tables for changing diapers.
- A healthy newborn infant is ready to travel with us after the first week of delivery
- Maximum of two infants can be accepted for travelling, provided that they are accompanied by a responsible passenger aged 14 or above. One of the two infants must be at least 6 months old and occupying an infant car safety seat. The other infant must be secured onto the responsible passenger with a child restraint device
- The infant is required to pay infant fare when travelling with the responsible passenger and not occupying a seat
- In the case of the responsible passenger travelling with 2 infants (1 of the infants must be at least 6 months old), 1 of the infants must pay the applicable child fare
- In addition to paying for an extra seat, passengers should also bring their own car seat, which must comply with Cathay Pacific approved specifications listed below.

Bassinet
- All our aircraft are equipped with special baby bassinets. A bassinet measures 76.20cm (30") x 38.10cm (15") x 20.32cm (8") and can carry up to 12kgs of weight
- Please note that a baby older than 6 months may however feel uncomfortable in a bassinet
- A request for a baby bassinet (BSCT) can be made at time of reservation if passenger is travelling with an infant.
- A personal infant car seat can be taken on board if it complies with the following requirements:
- Forward facing
- Designed for carrying an infant between the age of 6 months and 3 years, inclusively, and weighs 18kgs or less
- Must be in operational condition.
Junior VIPS
- We believe that for children flying with us, it should be a fun and memorable experience
- That's why all kids on board will be offered a colourful backpack*
- Inside the pack (which children can take home with them) are all kinds of goodies, including stationery, games and activity books
- The fun even extends to food -- we serve children's meals with colourful cutlery
- Special infant and junior meals are also available for very young children and toddlers.
* Not applicable to flights from / to Taipei, Manila and Xiamen
Unaccompanied Children and Minors
- We will look after children, aged between 6 and 12 years, who are not travelling with an adult* --both inflight and in transit
- If more than six children are scheduled to travel alone, we will arrange a trained and fully qualified "Flying Guardian" to accompany them
- Airfares for children on Unaccompanied Minor Service might differ from those travelling with adult companions. Please contact our Ticketing Office or your travel agent for more details
- Surcharge for Unaccompanied Minor Service is as follows (Per Sector Basis):
- Between Hong Kong and all destinations in Africa, Europe, Middle East, North America, South Asia Subcontinent and Southwest Pacific: HKD400 / USD50
- Between Bangkok and Dubai: HKD400 / USD50
- Other routes: HKD160 / USD20.
* An adult is a person above 16 years of age and not incapacitated
